We had an all-lady team aboard Artemis to raise money for the Dowtown Aailing Center. Combine with the J22 all-male team, we won the fundraising challenge! It was super light. We got the two boats ahead of us to finish in place, so we got third. I wish we could've met/interacted with more of the beneficiaries.
Only one more left after tonight! So thankful for running lights that make it possible to keep racing this late in the year. We actually had a proper debrief on the dock and sorted some things out. It's never too late in the season to sort things out.
First time on her new (old) blue laser! We took some time to put the rigging together and christened her in the Chesapeake Bay. Christie was a natural and her dance experience paid off. She was very cognizant of her body placement and how to use her weight. Can't wait to go out again soon!
True North, a docuseries by Suzie Galler hired us for the day to capture drama and action from offboard and drone of the J35 Valhalla during the 2020 Hospice Cup from aboard the Boatyard Bar & Grill. It was crazy windy! We had a great day with great shots. I hope we get to collaborate again soon.
Cindy and I got in a 420 for some great choreography coaching! Hands and footwork.
Two bad spinnaker sets really cost us! We were short handed. I should've gotten the main trimmer to do the guy initially so I could run forward and help out the bow.
Coached Christina Conti from New Jersey who transformed while blasting around double-handed on the laser in 15 knots of breeze. Big breeze, big waves, a capsize while she was tacking, falling out of the boat on a screaming downwind plane and getting left behind in the wake of the boat didn't phase her at all! She was still beaming and asking a ton of questions by the end. SO FUN.
Sooooo glad Baltimore keeps a racing well after Annapolis stops for the year. I wouldn't know what day of the week it was without some evening sailing to look forward to! It was light. There was a 50 degree lefty after the start, which we didn't know was coming and were on the wrong side of. We caught back up to the entire fleet though when a container ship went through the course.
Coaching Lauren Carlo. She took out a laser all by herself for the first time!
