Morning sail in Mattox Creek to DM 4
Century Club: AJ Batcheller
Quick afternoon sail with winds a tad greater than 10 mph coming from the NW so the chop was very manageable.
I was relieved this morning that Bente survived being tied up for the night as opposed to being on the lift. Went for a nice mellow sail with light winds pushing me around at about 2 ½ mph out of Mattox Creek.
The BoatUS app mentioned a small craft advisory as they were predicting strong winds as the day progressed. It looked okay so I promised myself I’d only go out for a brief sail. The winds were close to perfect, and a brief sailed into a couple of hours. I could see the wind picking up and had no issue safely dropping the sails and motoring back to the dock. The water was a bit too choppy to use the boat lift hence I decided to tie the boat off rather than risk cracking the hull again. Lesson learned; I should have stuck to my original game plan of a brief sail.
Sailed again from Mattox Creek to the Monroe Bay DM 4 with temperatures in the low 70’s and 5 mph wind from the north.
Short kayak paddle to work on the boat lift. It took me less time to make the boatlift modification than it did for my offical photogropher to make it to location hence no picture of me actually working.
Out to the Potomac with Kaptain Karen on the Kiwi Kruiser.
Very enjoyable and educational cruise aboard the William B Tennison at the 2023 Solomons Maritime Festival.
The weather hasn’t cooperated in almost a week making today’s sail even more enjoyable. Nice steady breeze, just a few clouds, and temperatures in the 60’s. Sailed to marker 4 just before Monroe Bay.
Relaxing late morning sail past Church Point to the Potomac.
