I have a crack in the keel of my Precision so until I get it repaired, I’ll be doing the next several days on the water in my kayak which is fun but it’s not sailing.
Century Club: AJ Batcheller
With Tropical Storm Elsa slated to hit our area today I played it safe and just sailed from day marker 7 to 4 and back again. Ended up cracking my hull while putting it up on my boat lift. Oh well.
Another hot day and my intention was to just got out for a little while and get another outing under my belt. The wind picked up to make it a near perfect sailing conditions and I ended up staying out for over 4 hours.
Very hot day today hence I was expecting to just go out for a bit and float around in the hot sun before coming home to enjoy a refreshing Mount Gay cocktail. A very gentle breeze pushed me out to the Potomac when I decided to head back home. I was pleasantly surprised that the wind picked up for a near perfect sail back home. I was able to cleat the main and jib and lock my tiller clutch so all I had to do was enjoy the ride and smile, smile, smile.
I saw a total of 7 sailboats on the Potomac but unable to take a picture to capture them all.
Not much wind this afternoon but but had a nice sail down to Ebb Tide Beach and back. More boats than normal on the water today but that was fine with me. It was fun to watch families having a great time swimming off their boats and the screams of excitiment as they were being towed on water toys.
Way too much chop on the Potomac so I stayed in Mattox Creek today. Had a terrific morning sailing.
Sunfish Sail on Pamlico Sound NC
Nice ferry ride to and from Ocracoke Island from Cape Hatteras.
Visiting friends this week in Frisco, NC. My friend John was kind enough to take me out in Pamlico Sound in his classic Alumacraft Jon Boat powered by an old 2hp Evinrude.
