Not a bad day on the water, topped off with the purchase of a new rifle. I will say, no one does more for gun sales than the Democrats.
Century Club: Billy Hannigan
7 hours on patrol. Conditions were cold and snotty, but beats the rain from the day before. Got to see the humpbacks for the first time this year. Also a neat diesel-electric sail assisted cargo ship.
The ultimate "You can't park there". By now most of the country has seen the driver rescue from the vehicle in the water here in Virginia Beach. Well, I wasn't involved in that. It was my day off, but I was called in for the vehicle recovery. The vehicle was resting in the bottom on the driver's side. We positioned our vessel over the vehicle and we were able to rig the rear passenger tire with a chain. With the boat, we pulled the vehicle back upright and pulled it along the bottom 150' - 200' back to the ramp it had entered from. From there we transferred the tow line to the tow truck driver who then pulled the vehicle out. Easy peasy.
Had to get underway early before the weather set in. Gale force winds gonna whip the bay up into a maelstrom. Went off shore to recover some ground tackle from last week's sailboat event.
Derelict vessel that was abandoned the day before by its owner was found drifting near the entrance to the Chesapeake Channel. It was determined that the vessel could not be left to be a danger to commercial traffic. Vessel was towed in from the North Atlantic Ocean.
Started the day by removing a large piling that would have ruined someone's day and their boat. Patrolled the CBBT and then checked on the other woman.
First day underway of 2026. Shooting for 2026 to be a four-peat for
The Century Club. No whales yet, but did get to see the large harem of seals at the CBBT and so many birds.
Getting one final patrol in before the holidays.
Getting the last couple of trips in 187 before she is put out to pasture. She's been a good girl.
Long day on the water. Security zone as the dredge was broken down and then escort of the giant snake around the Cape.
