Got to go tugboating today. Don't get too excited, it's an actual workboat, not a boat where you get a happy ending.

Lonely day on the water, like most of winter. Had to put a new decal on the BBSA buoy and saw that Thimble Shoals Light is still representing.
Sailtime called me because they were shorthanded and need help moving this beautiful catamaran. I had nothing else going on.
Absolutely beautiful day down in the southern Bay. Trained in Hampton with the auxiliaries. Then took a jaunt up the James River to the Pagan River.
187 back in the water after more than 6 months. Feels good to be behind her helm for one last year. New port collar, to bad it is a little different color than the starboard side.
Temps took a dive into the extremes. Forecast is for snow. If I wanted weather like this I would have moved North.
Was looking forward to some low visibility, actually no visibility, training in the fog. But the gremlins had other plans. Got out in the middle of the Bay when the radar went kapoot. Limped back to Port being extra careful not to become a statistic.
Had a chance to get some training in with the new auxillary to get them ready for the Search and Rescue Forum next month in Hampton.
Going to get spoiled if we keep having pretty days like this in the winter, unlike the North Atlantic this time of year.
First day out on the southern Bay. Weather has been absolutely crap and today was halfway decent, but very cold. Went out to the CH Buoy looking for those elusive whales. No such luck. Then ran about 4 miles offshore all the way to Wreck Island, nothing but birds. Went into Cape Charles to look at boats. Made my was back across the bay via a patrol along the CBBT. Saw some harbor seals at the 3rd Island. Made it into Little Creek where I see my dockmates made it back safely from the Bahamas..... Silly them, I would have stayed.
