Another nice day, more starts and maneuvers.

Beautiful day to practice starts and maneuvers
G and I took Hippie Chic out to practice flying a hull. We got one up for probably 15 seconds or more, at one point. To much fun, need more practice.
Low wind. We retired after sitting in the same spot for 20 minutes or more in the dark. Decent spin work though!
Went out with G and Mike and Gail to do some downwind work on SG. I think we cracked the code on douses and I'm excited to see how it goes in a race on Wednesday. We also saw Love Bug getting towed, and G got plenty of tiller time.
I met the parent of a junior sailor at the AYC summer programs award ceremony, and she'd never really sailed before. I invited her out on a rainbow and this was her first time driving and working the sheets. I hope to see her out on the water again!
Then, later, I got a last minute invitation from my friend Todd to sail on his century old schooner, Tom Swift. I was able to go out with my youngest, and he drove most of the way. What a... Just... Words fail me, I'm literally speechless as I speak this into my phone. The boat is absolutely gorgeous, a window into maritime history with a powerful personal connection to Todd. His knowledge of sailing rubs off almost by osmosis, I become a better sailor every time we hang out. An absolutely wonderful evening, thank you Todd.
Another Monday night race in the books, the weather looked questionable but it turned into an amazing afternoon, with a crazy double rainbow that lit up whatever it landed on in the water. The photos do not do it justice.
Mel, G, and I on Cirrus Green. DFL. What a blast.
G and I took Orange Mistral out for a little high breeze practice. We practiced powering down while pointing, wing on while running, and we did a few starts. He did really well on the tiller! I did less well handling all the sheets, especially in the jibes. Productive work on a beautiful evening!
Beautiful day with a light enough breeze that I set to leeward the whole time. Did some upwind and downwind, then practiced a start (only 15s late, great for me!) then did some laps around speed buoys. I'll tell you what, this girl can slide. Good to know!
