Sadly I missed the epic first day of sailing for this series because of work. Sunday I made it out for two races. I only finished the second race but managed a second place.
Century Club: Dorian Haldeman
We took a powerboat ride to visit my folks in Crisfield.
I had to work on Saturday but I still managed to squeeze in a little Screwpile Regatta fun. We took a dinghy ride to the party on Saturday. Jeff was chauffeuring Wilbur on the photo boat and a hitched a ride on a sweet RHIB on Sunday. No racing due to storms but a fun day on the water.
We had a great evening/ cocktail cruise for my friend, Captain Ellie's birthday! Fun evening with food and drinks at Libbey's. Plus an appearance by boat boy!
It was a beautiful drive and fun weekend with my ILCA friends. Sadly, there was not enough wind to race. We did launch on Saturday for some practice in the occasional puff. The rest of the time was spent swimming, sunbathing and drinking beer with my pals.
It was hot, flat water holiday so we sped down to the middle grounds to test our fishing skills at the target ship. The bite is slow but we got three Spanish Mackerel. First of the season!! We stopped for a glassy swim on the way home.
Our local Olympic hopeful, Leo Boucher, and Charlie Anderson ran a fantastic speed clinic at SSA. We had a blast leading on the water with our friends and then loaded the boat for the next ILCA sailing adventure.
We finally got the paddle boards off the rack and walked them down to the community launch. We got a short paddle in before the evening storms.
It was a beautiful weekend for a beach regatta. The Gibson Island point on the Magothy River was a spectacular venue. We had two fun days of racing and a beach BBQ. What a fun weekend!
