It was a breezy day two of the ILCA Fall series. Four races in a fresh NW 18-20 knots. Everything that you love about fall sailing! Looking forward to the Frostbite season.

W spent two days in our Key West trolling the Patuxent River in search of Rockfish. We caught a beauty on Saturday (dinner was delicious!!) but struck out on Sunday. Oh well, it was still a beautiful weekend on the water!
It was a beautiful, calm evening for a paddle in Back Creek. Enjoying the best of Naptown living!
It was another epic weekend in Deltaville, VA for the Annual Chesapeake Laser Masters Regatta! Two days of racing, campfire with friends and an amazing gourmet dinner. It is the highlight of our racing season every year! Four races in light breeze. I placed 12th overal and won the first woman trophy. Such a blast and I can't wait until we do it again next year!
I took advantage of an unseasonably warm and calm morning for a lovely paddle on Back Creek. It must be boat show season since the creek was packed with snowbirds headed south. Another great day on the water in Annapolis!
It was a fun BNAC in Solomons. Thursday we watched the light air practice race from Terrapin and towed our friends in. Racing started Friday. Our day ended early due to an unfortunate capsize during a gybe just before the finish of race two. These things do not recover like a Laser and are very stable upside down. Saturday the breeze was light ans we managed a fourth place. Sunday was breezy!! It was a great event.
Two days of racing our Buccaneer 18, Spanish Mackerel, at our club in Solomons. Eleven boats on the line made it a great tune up for the Buccaneer North American Championship the following weekend. We placed third overall in a very competitive fleet.
Jeff and I raced an FJ representing the ILCA 6 (Laser Radial) fleet against representatives of the J/22, ILCA 7 (Laser), Daysailor and Thistle fleets. (Most of the people were all Laser sailors too). It was a fun day and we finished third. Maybe next year we will wear the crowns!
Our long anticipated bay baycation finically starred on Sunday, August 22. We pulled out of Solomons in the afternoon after a morning run to West Marine to purchase a new cooler because the refrigerator was acting weird. We motor down the bay surrounded by thunderstorms but never caught any nasty weather. Our first achorage was the Great Wicomico River, VA. Monday morning after coffee we headed out on a still bay south to Mobjack Bay. In the afternoon the wind came up and we had a lovely sail from Wolf Trap light into the East River where we stayed anchored for two nights. Wednesday we needed to fill up on ice and water so we stopped at Fishinf Bay Marina for a pit stop after another motor. Afterwards the breeze came up so we explored the Piankatank under sail before dropping anchor for the night. Thursday we motored again (lack of wind) up to Little Bay on Antipoison Creek near Windmill Point. We read about this anchorage in the August issue of SpinSheet magazine. It was so amazing we stayed for two nights, exploring the beaches by dinghy and twice making a pilgrimage through the marsh to the Rappahannock River and the tiki bar at Windmill Point Marina. Saturday morning we had a lovely sail across the bay to Tangier where the wind died and we needed to turn on the trusty Yanmar to get us into Crisfield. Ther we docked at Somers Cove Marina for the night and visited my parents for dinner. After breakfast with the locals we headed back out on the bay for our last and windiest day. Unfortunately that wind was right on the nose as we motored 35 miles back home to Solomons. It was a hot week with a lot of swimming and thankfully no sea nettles. A great week on the water with my husband!
After a day of prep work for our upcoming southern bay cruise, we headed out for a little evening fishing and caught a couple of Spanish Mackerel for dinner.
