We finiallu got around to hauling the Key West before the next winter storm. It was well below freezing with a moderate breeze. The wash down was a bit icy but we got the job done.
Century Club: Dorian Haldeman
It was a soggy cold day with rain and much less wind then forecasted. But there was enough to run races and it was a day in the water.
It was a light breeze and unseasonably warm kind of day for the 2022 Ice Bowl. Thirteen ILCA dinghies raced up the Severn River to Round Bay and part way home before they shortened the course so we could finish before the time limit. The sailing was not very exciting but it was great to celebrate the new year on the water.
Day 1
It was a gusty and chilly northerly breeze for my 100th day on the water in 2021. We sailors six exciting races and I kept the boat right side up, well except for that one gybe.... anyway. It was a blast! Looking forward to another century in 2022.
It was a beautiful, sunny and breezy day on the Severn River. Conditions were ideal for some sporty Laser racing. It was a fun day on the water.
I launched in the hopes we would have some breeze, but sadly there was none. But is was a beautiful, calm day to drift around the harbor.
I took advantage of a calm and sunny late November afternoon to don by dry suit and paddle! It was a short paddle but the reflections were amazing.
The first day of ILCA/Laser Frostbite season was cloudy with a nice chilly breeze. Many boats attended the event. I had two great races and a bunch of ok races. As always it is fun to be on the water with my friends. Looking forward to Sundays!
We spent the weekend in Savannah, GA while I attended a veterinary seminar. Took a ride on across the Savannah River on the free ferry so we can count a day in the water. You can walk right on with your carry out beverage. So cool seeing the giant container ships up close!
Ferry ride was so much fun we had to go again the next day! (After cocktails at the speakeasy)
We took advantage of a free weekend and took Terrapin to Oxford for the weekend. There was no breeze on Friday so we motored from Solomons to Oxford. We got to the Tred Avon River in time for a beautiful sunset. Saturday we took dinghy rides and explored town. The Halloween decorations were great! Scottish Highland Creamery was closed for the season but we discovered their ice cream is served by the new coffee shop (Oxford Social). After a coffee walk Sunday morning we hauled anchor and headed back south. It was a strong building southerly and after motor sailing most of the way we shut off the engine and tacked our way the rest of the way sailing all the way in to Spring Covr Marina. A great weekend cruise!
