Enjoyed a day sail on "Vivace" with two PSA friends. It was a georgeous winter day on the water: sunny and clear, and lots of wind. Perfect sailing conditions.

Enjoyed a late fall day on the Bay with PSA sailling friends aboard "Vivace". The winds were not what we had hoped for, but otherwise it was an enjoyable day on the water.
Organized and executed PSA's on-land decommissioning work day. Sixteen members were on hand to help with dewaxing topsides and installing winter covers and doing the other myriad tasks of buttoning up a boat for the season. Pisces, Glissade and Summer Sun are completely winterized for the season. Vivace is only partially winterized and is available for winter sailing until the weather dictates otherwise.
Parklawn Sailing Association's sloops Pisces and Glissade were hauled, power-washed and blocked today by Galesville Harbor Yacht Yard. Boat bottoms looked good upon initial inspection. Next up: on-land decommissioning.
Organized and executed PSA's in-water decommissioning day. Twenty members came out to winterize the four boats and do other, planned work. Haul out will be next.
Joined my friend Joel on a delivery from Columbia Island Marina near DC on the Potomac R. to a boat storage facility on the Occoquan R. It was brisk two-hour powerboat ride. Kind of exhilerating. My first time on the Occoquan and to visit the river's namesake town.
Headed to Annapolis for lunch at The Boatyard today with two sailing friends on "Pisces." Great sail from Galesville to Annapolis, but little wind on the way back home. Today might have been the last day above 60 degrees for the year. We'll see.
Crewed on "Glissade" for the final PCRC frostbite race. There was little to no wind, but we had a couple of close encounters with other race boats as most of us drifted for the first hour of the race. After two hours, we were only a half mile into the 2.9 mile course. We retired.
Repairs having been completed, Mike Troiano and I brought "Vivace" back home from Deale to the West River. We motor-sailed and averaged about 5 kt, but it was a long trip upwind and the coldest day on the water yet.
Skippered "Glissade" for the penultimate Sunday afternoon race. The crew and I finally are beginning to get the hang of this J-boat. It was a fun afternoon on the water.
